A guide to swapping safely
- We encourage all users to stick to the suggested drop-off points as these have been selected for your safety. They are popular spots on campus and are easily accessible to all students. Should you, for any reason, choose to deviate from these suggestions, please use your best judgement to select a populated and well-lit public space. Do not be pressured into meeting somewhere you are not comfortable. Please report all suspicious behaviours to us immediately at: support@swapshop.app
Can I post my item instead of dropping it off?
- We encourage you to use drop-off points because we want to minimise the carbon footprint of the swapping process and help users eliminate shipping costs. However, we appreciate that some users may prefer to post items for sheer convenience. This is entirely up to you and your swapping partner to decide. If both parties are ok with it, we see no problem with this. This can be discussed and arranged in the chat function.
Returns policy
- Once you agree to a swap, unless there are explicit mitigating circumstances preventing you, you must follow through. Failure to do so may result in your profile being suspended. Furthermore, every swap is permanent. The only circumstances under which a return will be permitted is if the item is significantly different from the condition in which it was advertised. We recommend that you inspect the item upon receipt. Any disputes should be resolved amongst the two parties. If no solution is found, please reach out to our support team at: support@swapshop.app
Cleanliness
- Please ensure that all items are cleaned before they are swapped. Consider the state in which you would want to receive the item.
Covid-19 updates
- We encourage everyone to take the necessary precautions to stay safe during this crisis. Ensure that you wear a mask when meeting with other users. Try to maintain social distancing and sanitise your hands before handling any items.

Hate speech and discrimination
- One of our main goals for Swapshop is to create an inclusive community. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Period. We cannot stress this enough. Swapshop has an absolute zero tolerance policy for any form of hate speech and discrimination. Such behaviours will be dealt with the utmost urgency and the guilty party will be permanently removed from the platform. If you have faced or witnessed such behaviours, please report this immediately to: support@swapshop.app
I have a problem with another user. What should I do?
- We have a zero tolerance policy for aggressive behaviors on our platform. We encourage all users to maintain civility. Not doing so may result in your profile being suspended. If an issue does arise with another user that cannot be resolved amongst yourselves, please report this to: support@swapshop.app and do not engage any further.
How old do I have to be to use Swapshop?
- You must be at least 13 years of age to use our platform. If you are aware of a user that is in breach of this policy, please alert us at: support@swapshop.app
My account has been hacked or compromised
- Please provide as much detail as possible and contact us immediately at: tech@swapshop.app
Is there anything I can’t swap?
- We trust our users. Therefore, we ask that you respect the Swapshop community by using your best judgement to decide if a particular item is suitable or not. Obviously, illegal items such as counterfeit goods cannot be swapped. If you see anything that you believe violates this policy, or are unsure about one of your own listings, please reach out to our team at: support@swapshop.app

- At Swapshop, we value your privacy. It is for this reason that we do not sell your data nor will we ever sell your data.
